Been using this lens alot recently and Tamron’s new lenses definitely give the first party lens manufacturers something to think about. Having vc is great for higher megapixel cameras of today and is the only lens in its class to do so.
Colour, contrast And sharpness are all great though there us a slight issue with colour fringing in high contrast areas. Nothing that can’t be fixed in post.

Been using this lens a lot and Tamron’s new line up can definitely give the first party manufacturers something to worry about.

Overall I am quite happy with this lens. The functionality and the resulting images are very nice indeed. A smart and worthwhile investment. Now I’m looking at either the 85 or 90mm as a companion.

After using the 35 f/1.8 VC for shooting weddings this year, it made me long for more Tamron glass. My Nikon 50mm f/1.4G never gave me the performance I desired, and I’ve been looking to replace it for some time. The Tamron 45mm f/1.8 gives up a little bit of light but is much, much, sharper at all apertures, and I’m now convinced I can never live without VC again, even on shorter focal lengths like this. Granted, it’s much bigger and heavier than other lenses of similar focal length, but that trade off is worth it.
